Terms of Service

1. Eligibility & age

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country, whichever is higher — for example, 16 in parts of the EU/UK) to use the Service. If you are under 18, you may only use the standard, non-adult experience, and you confirm you have a parent or guardian’s permission where required by law.

• Adult (18+) content is off by default. Mature sexual or graphic content is available only to users who confirm they are 18 or older and deliberately enable it in Settings. Enabling it requires an age confirmation and a date of birth showing you are 18+. This is a self-attested check — we verify only that the date of birth you enter meets the age requirement. We do not use a third-party age-verification service, and we do not ask for, receive, or store any government ID or identity document.
• The first answer counts. If the date of birth you enter shows you are under 18, adult content is locked on your account, and entering a different date later will not unlock it. Standard (non-adult) features keep working. If the date shows you are under 13, the account is paused while we review it. We also mark the browser, so a new account made there starts locked. Think it’s a mistake? Ask us on our Discord; only a PersonaChat administrator can lift a lock, after talking it through with you.
• Age statements in chat. We automatically watch for players saying in chat that they are under 18 (for example “I’m 14”). A match may lead us to lock adult content on that account and review it.
• Misrepresenting your age is a serious breach of these Terms. We may suspend or permanently ban any account we reasonably believe belongs to a minor accessing adult content or a user under our minimum age.
• We may introduce stronger, third-party age verification in the future — for example, if we open community publishing, or where local law later requires it. If we do, we will update these Terms and explain what changes before it applies to you.

2. Your account

You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your login secure. Provide accurate information, don’t share your account, and don’t impersonate anyone. Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use.

3. Acceptable use

Your use of the Service, and everything you create with it — characters, personas, images and sprites, room scenes, stories, voices, and comments — must follow our Content Guidelines, which are incorporated into these Terms. In addition, you agree not to:

• create or share content that sexualizes minors, real or fictional, in any form (this is our strictest rule);
• harass, threaten, defame, or violate the privacy or rights of any real person, including doxxing;
• use the Service for anything illegal, or to plan or promote real-world harm, violence, or dangerous acts;
• upload someone’s image, likeness, or voice without the rights or consent to do so;
• reverse-engineer, scrape, overload, probe, or circumvent security or rate limits on the Service;
• resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Service or its outputs except as we expressly allow;
• evade moderation, including by creating new accounts after enforcement action.

4. Your content & license

You keep ownership of the content you create. To operate the Service, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, and process your content — including transmitting it to the third-party AI providers that generate responses, images, and voices. If you make content public (for example by publishing a character or voice to the community), you also grant other users a license to use it within the Service. This license ends when you delete the content, except for copies retained in backups or as required by law, and except for content others have already saved.

You represent that you have all rights necessary to your content and that it does not infringe anyone’s rights or violate these Terms.

5. AI-generated content

Responses are produced by AI models and may be inaccurate, offensive, or inconsistent. Given the same prompt, outputs vary between users, and we don’t claim ownership of the specific text a model generates for you. You are responsible for how you use outputs. The Service is for entertainment; it is not a substitute for professional advice, and it is not a crisis or emergency service — see Crisis & Safety.

6. Voice & likeness

Voice features, including voice cloning, may only be used with your own voice or a voice you have clear permission to use, and you confirm this when you upload one. Do not upload recordings of actors or celebrities, or of any other real person who hasn’t clearly agreed, and do not name a voice after a real person. Impressions you perform yourself are allowed for personal roleplay, but may not be presented as the real person. Cloned voices don’t speak adult (18+) lines. The one exception is your own voice: after a live reading confirms it’s really you, and only if you switch it on yourself, it can speak adult lines in your own chats. We remove infringing, deceptive or reported voices and may terminate accounts that misuse these features.

7. Intellectual property & copyright

The Service, including its software, design and branding, is owned by PersonaChat and protected by law. Some characters on PersonaChat are unofficial, fan-made tributes to existing shows, games and books. PersonaChat is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by those works or their owners, and all rights to them belong to their owners.

If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright or other rights, email support@personachat.gg with: the work involved, where the content is on PersonaChat (a link), your contact details, a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn’t authorized, and a statement that your notice is accurate. We remove content promptly when we receive a valid request, offer a counter-notice process to the person who posted it, and terminate repeat infringers.

8. Third-party services

PersonaChat relies on third-party providers for AI model routing, image and video understanding, text-to-speech and voice processing, and hosting. We do not currently use a third-party age-verification provider, though we may add one in the future (see “Eligibility & age” above). Content you submit may be processed by these providers to deliver features. Their handling of data is described in our Privacy Policy. Links to third-party sites are provided for convenience and are used at your own risk.

9. Plans, payments & subscriptions

Some features are offered through paid plans (for example, Torch, Lantern, and Aurora). We may also offer one-time purchases, such as voice minute packs. Where subscriptions are available, pricing, billing cycle, renewal, and cancellation terms are shown at purchase. Paid plans renew automatically until cancelled; you can cancel at any time, effective at the end of the current period — you keep access until then, and you are not charged again. Taxes may apply. We may change prices or plan features with reasonable notice; changes do not affect a period you’ve already paid for. Payments are generally non-refundable. 10. Safety

We work to keep PersonaChat safe, but no online service is perfectly safe. If you encounter content that violates our guidelines, report it. If you or someone else is in danger, contact local emergency services immediately. Support resources are listed on our Crisis & Safety page.

11. Suspension & termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access, remove content, or limit features if you violate these Terms or our guidelines, if required by law, or to protect users or the Service. Terms that by their nature should survive termination (such as content licenses, disclaimers, and limitations of liability) will continue to apply.

12. Disclaimers & limitation of liability

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the Service or AI outputs will be accurate, reliable, uninterrupted, or error-free. To the maximum extent permitted by law, PersonaChat is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your use of the Service or reliance on AI outputs. You agree to indemnify PersonaChat against claims arising from your content or your misuse of the Service.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will take reasonable steps to notify you. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

14. Governing law & disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oklahoma and the United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and the state and federal courts located in Oklahoma have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them. Nothing here takes away rights that the consumer laws of your own country or state give you. Before filing any formal dispute, please contact us first — informal resolution is almost always faster for both of us.
