Content Guidelines
PersonaChat is a place to create and play with AI characters and interactive stories. We want it to be a creative, welcoming space — which means some things are never allowed. These Guidelines apply to everyone and to all content: characters and personas, images and sprites, room scenes, stories, voices, profiles, and comments. Adult content is available only to verified 18+ users who enable it, and even then every rule below still applies.
1. Child safety — our highest priority
Protecting minors comes before everything else. We do not allow any content that sexualizes, exploits, or endangers children — real or fictional, human or non-human. This keeps real children safe and ensures PersonaChat is never used to normalize this content.
- Sexual or romantic content involving minors — any sexual or romantic portrayal of a character who is, appears to be, or is coded as under 18 — including non-human characters. Romantic coding (crushes, “dating,” partner framing) of a minor character is also prohibited, even when another character is an adult.
- Minor characters in adult scenes — characters in sexual content must be adults — 18 or older in personality, description, and in any image used. Characters who are canonically minors are only allowed when clearly aged up to an adult, shown as an adult, and outside a childhood context.
- Ambiguous age — if a character’s adult age isn’t clearly established, treat them as not permitted for any suggestive or sexual content. When in doubt, make them clearly an adult.
- Minor characters as central figures — background mentions of minors in a non-sexual, non-interactive way (e.g. “has a teenage daughter”) are fine, but minor characters must not be developed, spoken as, or made interactive in ways that invite the above.
- Underage users — users under our minimum age may not use PersonaChat, and no user under 18 may access adult content. We ban accounts we reasonably believe are underage, and we report child sexual abuse material to the appropriate authorities.
2. Adult sexual content
For verified adults who have enabled it, PersonaChat permits sexual content between consenting adult fictional characters. Some categories remain off-limits because of their potential for real harm:
- Anything involving minors — see Section 1 — this always overrides adult permissions.
- Incest — sexual content between blood-related characters. Step- or adoptive relationships are not covered by this rule.
- Age regression to a minor state — characters regressed to the mind of a child. (This is distinct from adult role-play dynamics between adults.)
- Necrophilia — sexualized content involving corpses, human or non-human.
- Non-consent presented approvingly — content that endorses or is designed to promote real-world sexual violence, rather than depicting a fictional dynamic critically.
- Explicit sexual imagery — uploaded images showing nudity, exposed genitalia, sexual fluids, or sexual acts. Written adult content is gated to 18+; pornographic images are not permitted as character art.
3. Real people & likeness
Fiction inspired by public figures is common, but real, identifiable people have rights we protect.
Only fictional characters can be public.A character based on a real person can stay in your own library for private roleplay, SFW only, but it can’t be published to Discover or Community. If one is published anyway, we make it private and let you know.
- Sexual or explicit content depicting real people — including private individuals, creators, and performers, without their consent.
- Non-consensual likeness or “deepfakes” — using a real person’s face, image, or voice to impersonate them or fabricate things they didn’t say or do.
- Private individuals — recognizable depictions of real, non-public people without their consent.
- Doxxing — sharing someone’s private information without consent, or threats to do so.
4. Animals & creatures
We prohibit sexual content with real animals or with creatures that can’t meaningfully consent. Fictional creatures are judged on intelligence, communication, and the capacity to consent.
- Sexualization of real animals — strictly prohibited. Anthropomorphic, humanlike fictional characters are treated as fictional beings, not real animals.
- Real-animal-like creatures — fictional creatures that closely resemble real animals (e.g. unicorns, pegasi) are not allowed in sexual contexts.
- Non-sapient creatures — sexual content with a fictional creature is only allowed if it clearly has adult-human-level intelligence, can communicate, and can consent.
- Animal cruelty — gratuitous depictions of cruelty or torture toward real animals.
5. Self-harm, suicide & violence
Mature themes can appear in fiction, but we draw the line at content that encourages real-world harm. If you’re struggling, please see our Crisis & Safety resources — you deserve support from real people.
- Encouraging or glorifying self-harm or suicide — including instructions, methods, or content that pressures a real person toward self-harm.
- Gratuitous graphic violence — imagery or content centered on extreme gore, torture, or cruelty for its own sake.
- Promotion of real-world violence — content that celebrates, endorses, or incites real violence against real people.
6. Hate, harassment & discrimination
Everyone should feel welcome regardless of who they are.
- Discrimination & dehumanization — content attacking people based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected characteristics, and harmful stereotypes.
- Slurs — slurs used to demean real communities. (Reclaimed language may appear in-character where used appropriately, not as an attack.)
- Harassment & threats — threats, intimidation, blackmail, or encouraging others to harm a real person.
- Sexualized religious figures — explicit depictions of real religious figures.
7. Illegal & dangerous content
- Real-world harmful instructions — workable instructions for weapons, explosives, drug synthesis, or other serious real-world harm.
- Terrorism & violent extremism — promotion of terrorist organizations or ideologies, or depictions glorifying real terrorists.
- Other illegal activity — using PersonaChat to commit, facilitate, or promote crimes.
8. Platform integrity
- Intellectual-property infringement — content that infringes copyright or trademark; we remove it on valid report (see our DMCA process in the Terms).
- Spam & solicitation — spam, mass advertising, or steering users to competing platforms. Simple “find me elsewhere” links and normal creator support links are fine.
- Abuse of the Service — malware, scraping, automated abuse, or attempts to overload or bypass safety systems.
- Moderation evasion — creating new accounts to get around enforcement, or deliberately vague content designed to skirt these rules.
Reporting & enforcement
If you find content that breaks these Guidelines, use Report this characteron the character's page, or the report control on a community post — that reaches us fastest, with the context attached. You can also email us; see Support & Contact. We review reports and may remove content, limit features, or suspend accounts. We interpret and enforce these Guidelines at our discretion, and we’ll try to notify users when we act on their content.
