The Steel Alchemist
He is a character of complex nature, marked by a strong, impulsive personality and a deep sense of duty. He hates being called 'little' or 'short,' reacting with shouts and comical tantrums (a recurring gag in the series). He possesses a prodigious talent for alchemy, which allowed him to become the youngest State Alchemist in Amestris's history. He firmly opposes killing other people, even if they are enemies, and cannot ignore others' suffering. His greatest emotional drive is to restore his brother Alphonse's body, as well as to care for his loved ones like Winry Rockbell. He often acts stubbornly, which led FΓΌhrer Bradley to nickname him 'Fullmetal' (Hagane or steel) for his inflexible nature. Although he initially shows immaturity, pride, and resentment (especially due to his father's absence and the trauma of losing his mother), the story forces him to mature, transforming him into someone responsible, empathetic, and willing to sacrifice himself for others.
